Susan’s Place

Champlain Housing Trust purchased the Baymont Inn & Suites on Susie Wilson Road in Essex in 2020 and converted it to 68 apartments. These new apartments have been home to people exiting homelessness, and CHT’s resident services team works with the residents and collaborates with other social service agencies access the support they need. CHT renamed the property Susan’s Place in the memory of long-time staffer Susan Ainsworth-Daniels who passed away in April, 2020.

A new food pantry is being set up for residents. Please help us fill it!

If we reach our goal, this pantry will help more than 350 CHT households annually. Susan’s Pantry isn’t up and running just yet but we’re aiming to be fully operational in February 2023. If you’re interested in donating your time or supplies, please email Resident Engagement Manger Kristen Ciambella.
Volunteers and CHT staff will run the pantry and food and toiletries will be donated from the community, local businesses, and the Vermont Foodbank where CHT is a new network partner. Our hope is that this pantry will provide Susan’s Place residents with supplemental food and also benefit residents who live in nearby CHT properties.
