Susan’s Place

Champlain Housing Trust purchased the Baymont Inn & Suites on Susie Wilson Road in Essex in 2020 and converted it into 68 apartments for people exiting homelessness. CHT’s resident services team works with the residents and collaborates with other social service agencies to access resources and support. CHT renamed the property Susan’s Place in memory of long-time staffer Susan Ainsworth-Daniels who passed away in April, 2020. Susan's Place Champlain Housing Trust

Susan’s Place is also home to Susan’s Pantry which provides free food and personal care items to resident who live there. Since opening in February 2023, the pantry has served more than 40 CHT households.

To keep the shelves stocked, CHT is seeking donations from community members. There is a significant need for for cleaning supplies; paper products; canned goods; hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, body soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc…). Non-perishable instant ramen, pasta sauce, pasta, and snacks are also welcome.
