Susan’s Place, a motel Champlain Housing Trust converted into permanently affordable housing for people who had been homeless, and Harbor Place, a motel that provides emergency shelter to people who are unhoused, each have food pantries with free food for those living there. As food costs and food insecurity continues to rise, free food and personal care items from these pantries go a long way in supporting residents.
To fill the shelves this winter, Champlain Housing Trust is hosting a Food Drive and we’d love your help by donating food and personal care items November 12 – December 13.
We are seeking donations of non-perishable food and personal care items including canned goods like tuna, chicken, corned beef hash, Spam, soup, and Spaghettios and personal hygiene products such as shampoo, conditioner, body soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, tampons, and pads. Also welcome are cleaning supplies like dish soap, laundry pods, and disinfecting wipes as well as paper products like paper towels, tissues, and toilet paper.
Other helpful items include instant ramen, boxed stuffing and mashed potatoes, pasta sauce, pasta, soup, Hamburger Helper, and microwaveable mac and cheese. Snacks are also welcome.
Food Pantry donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday, 9:30am – 4:30pm at CHT’s office in Burlington located at 88 King Street. For information about the food drive or to arrange a delivery, email Resident Engagement Manager Suey Howe or call her at 802-861-7322. Thank you!
