Meet CHT Homeownership Outreach Coordinator Jen Armon

While it has only been one month that Jen Armon has been Champlain Housing Trust’s Homeownership Outreach Coordinator, she’s been busy.

Jen Armon, Champlain Housing TrustShe’s jumped right in and is a valuable part of the homeownership team coordinating marketing materials for Shared Equity Program meetings and clinics, working on interest lists for available properties and even helping to choose interior fixtures at Bay Ridge, a new CHT development of nearly 100 homes that’s under construction in Shelburne.

Jen has also gained direct experience working with people in CHT’s Shared Equity Homeownership Program.

“I’ve been able to sit in on some counseling sessions and I’m going to get to start doing more with upcoming classes…I’m learning a lot,” says Jen.

Jen isn’t a traditional full time CHT employee. She is a Vermont Housing & Conservation Board (VHCB) AmeriCorps which is a statewide program that’s part of a national service project. VHCB AmeriCorps members are matched with affordable housing, land conservation and environmental education organizations across Vermont. At CHT, AmeriCorps members have been serving since 2005 with some transitioning into full time jobs after their service period ends.

In college, Jen volunteered with the DREAM program at Champlain Housing Trust’s Salmon Run apartments in Burlington, but she didn’t know much about CHT’s mission and programs. After working with the homeownership team for a month, she now has a better understanding of CHT’s work and programs and only has positive things to say about being part of it.

“It’s been great, it’s been so fun. I come into the office every day and there is always something different happening.”
