Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) is offering free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate income Vermonters. The program is by CVOEO’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where volunteer tax experts assist individuals and families fill out their federal and state income tax returns, Vermont Renters Credits, and Homestead Declarations/Property Tax Credits.
Appointments are available February 1st through Tax Day, which is April 15th, and scheduling is available now.

Before scheduling your appointment, please read the eligibility guidelines. Click here for locations and hours. CVOEO has many appointments available during the tax season, scheduling approximately 175 appointments per week. If you are unable to make your appointment, please reschedule by calling 2-1-1 or following your email link at least 24 hours before the appointment.
The program is available individuals and families that earned less than $69,000 in 2025. Not eligible for CVOEO’s tax assistance program? You can still file your taxes for free if your household income is $89,000 or less! Visit MyFreeTaxes.com or GetYourRefund.org to get started.
