Champlain Housing Trust’s SHARE program was created to help homeowners love the home they’re in by fostering financial security and housing stability. It empowers homeowners to determine their own financial goals based on their priorities.
Sustaining Homeownership through Affordability, Resiliency & Efficiency (SHARE) is a program run by CHT’s Home Ownership Center that mixes both in-person and online events and workshops along with one-on one coaching focused on six key focus areas:
- Maximizing Income
- Savvy Spending & Better Budgets
- Amazing Savings
- Optimizing Credit
- Protecting Your Assets
- Maintaining your Home
Program participants also have access to special incentives including our Match Savings Program created with support from North Country Federal Credit Union. Participants create savings accounts and agree to save between $15-75 each month while meeting with a counselor. In return they receive match funds in that same savings account. During the 2025-2026 SHARE program, participants saved $1,600 on average.
“I really appreciated the opportunity to continue thinking about and making plans around our finances. We used these conversations to think about where we are and where we want to go.” — Fern, program participant
“Each aspect of the Program was helpful. My coach was diligent, encouraging, respectful and hand excellent attitude throughout the process of helping me improve my situation” — Anonymous program participant
Past editions of the SHARE Program received positive feedback from those who took part. 80% had an improved sense of financial well being and 90% of participants increased their savings, including 43 households who saved nearly $20,000.
Our 2025-2026 SHARE program has ended and CHT does not have a future program date at this time. For other learning opportunities from Champlain Housing Trust, visit our website.
